Synopsis

An integral part of the strategic transformations initiated in Ukraine is the approximation of the quality of life system in our country to the world standards set for the candidate countries for EU membership. An important standard in this area is DSTU ISO 9001: 2015 "Quality Management System", adopted in Ukraine on 31.12.2015. The concept of "risk-based thinking" appears for the first time in this document. It is believed that the scope of this, as well as previously adopted standards of the ISO 31000 series, are extremely powerful financial and industrial companies. Instead, only losses incurred in the course of their business are subject to risk. In fact, this is not entirely true: in accordance with the principles of these standards, they can be applied by any structure that seeks and has the ability to manage risks. It can be any person, legal or natural, regardless of its type of activity. Moreover, the emphasis in determining risk in these standards shifts from the probability of the event to the results and consequences, especially their impact on the implementation of the tasks and objectives. It is also important to note that if previously risk was defined mainly as a negative phenomenon, then with the adoption of these standards, it is understood that risk is a part of life, it can be not only negative but also positive.
